It is widely believed that a “serious cause” justifying the denial of a lease assignment can only pertain to the creditworthiness or the behaviour of a candidate. However, on a recent case heard by the Régie du logement, landlords refused an assignment of lease to a family with children due to poor soundproofing of the building.
