Moving on July 1 in the midst of the housing crisis: everyone's business

One month before the big move-in day in Quebec, the Corporation des propriétaires immobiliers du Québec (CORPIQ) invites Quebec landlords to obtain their landlord's kit, and points out that it is working with municipal housing offices to ensure a successful transition while the housing shortage persists.

"Every year, Quebec landlords help thousands of households make the move to a new home on July 1. With vacancy rates exceptionally low, CORPIQ is doubling its efforts to ensure a smooth transition for all," says CORPIQ president Éric Sansoucy.

 

Well-equipped landlords

Although the majority of moves go smoothly, it's always best to be prepared for all eventualities, to make the day a pleasant one for all parties. To this end, CORPIQ has provided its members with a kit containing several tools to help Quebec landlords become facilitators.

 

This landlord kit includes :

• A practical guide to help landlords deal with tenants;
• A free information session devoted entirely to moving;
• A phone line to call if you have any concerns on D-Day;
• And new sample letters and forms.

 

Collaboration with OMHs

To ensure a smooth transition, CORPIQ will be working with municipal housing offices (OMHs), providing them with up-to-date lists of available housing units to help them assist homeless tenants.
