Goods Abandoned by a Tenant After a Move
During the move-out period, a tenant moves out of his or her dwelling, but leaves behind some goods and supplies. Having received no information from the tenant, the landlord is left wondering if these goods remain the property of the tenant for a specific time, or if they automatically become the property of the landlord. This can be a real headache for many landlords around July 1st. Can they immediately send the goods to the garbage to free up the dwelling for the new tenant and occupants? Should they wait a reasonable amount of time in case the former tenant decides to come back and get his or her belongings?
