On March 9, the Grand Forum de l'habitation du Québec brought together forty players in the housing field, including CORPIQ.
During this first meeting, actors from the community, municipal and private sectors were brought together virtually in order to discuss issues, challenges, trends, priorities, and to promote exchanges on the housing situation in Quebec. Chaired by the Minister of Housing, several themes were addressed, including the CANADA-QUÉBEC agreement on housing, the national strategy for urban and regional planning, and major concerns in housing.
Hans Brouillette, Director of Public Affairs at CORPIQ participated in this consultation.
"We finally have, for the first time, a real Ministry of Housing with important human and financial resources, as we have been demanding for years," declared Hans Brouillette. "If Minister Andrée Laforest succeeds in delivering her structuring and mobilizing action plan for housing in April 2022, all the players, whether private, public, or community-based, will finally be able to work in complementarity rather than in opposition. The needs and problems in housing are major and Quebec can do much better in this area for its population, its economy and its public finances."
The first of a series, the stakeholders will also meet on March 16 for a workshop on housing trends and vision. Finally, the priorities for action will be at the heart of the discussions during the last meeting scheduled for March 23.
