More and more leases prohibit smoking

In a survey conducted from June 15 to 20 CORPIQ revealed that a majority (51%) of Quebec homeowners no longer have a lease that permits to smoke, compared to 43% in January 2017.
Another 16% have most of their leases prohibiting smoking, roughly the same rate as in this previous survey.
According to Statistics Canada, Quebec had 19% of smokers in its population aged 18 or over in 2016. The rate is certainly higher among tenants with a high proportion of young people as well as people with low-income, two clienteles with higher than average prevalence to use tobacco.
