Obligation to have a building inspected before buying it?
News
Bill 401, introduced by the Minister responsible for Housing, made it mandatory for the purchaser of a building to have it inspected by a certified building inspector.
As a corollary, a person would have been required to hold a certificate to perform the duties of building inspector.
Bill 401 was introduced on June 12, but died three days later when the parliamentary session ended on June 15. It will therefore be up to the next government, to be elected on October 1st, to decide whether such a measure needs to be relaunched in a new law.
