Quebec names Minister of Housing
News
The Quebec Premier has created a consumer protection and housing department, which will be presided over by Lise Thériault, who is also the MP for Anjou-Louis-Riel.
The position already existed from 1980 (when the Régie du logement was created) to 1985, then again during the housing crisis from 2002 to 2003. This is the second important change made since a new president was named to the Régie.
CORPIQ is pleased with the nomination of Lise Thériault, especially because it means there will be a minister devoted specifically to housing. This issue is very important to the public, but it often fells low on the Municipal Affair’s minister’s list of priorities.
CORPIQ also hopes that these new nominations will finally help deliver the Régie du logement reform the Couillard government has been promising.
