Régie split over whether guarantors should be notified of renewed lease

In a ruling this summer by Administrative Judge Marie-Louisa Santirosi, the Régie du logement refused a rental property owner’s claim against the tenant’s guarantor. The tenant had not paid four months of rent and had left the apartment. In making this ruling, the housing board acknowledged a legal controversy. The primary tenant was still, however, ordered to pay the claimed amount.
