Repossession: Elderly tenants will suffer the negative effects of law 492

The Liberal government knew what would happen, but passed the bill anyway. Bill 492 was intended to prohibit unit repossession and eviction for the purpose of expanding or subdividing in cases where the tenant meets specific criteria, including age. CORPIQ had already warned that the bill would do more harm than good to elderly residents. And a recent survey confirms it: 50% of rental property owners would think twice before renting to a person aged 70 or over.
